Green at You Hackathon in Spello brings together green entrepreneurs from across Europe

The Green at You Hackathon took place in Spello in July 2025, bringing together participants from Spain, Italy, Greece and Serbia for a unique, hands-on experience focused on green entrepreneurship, social innovation and sustainable development.

The hackathon represented the final step of the Green at You entrepreneurship training pathways, following a structured selection process that started at national level. In each participating country, local hackathons were organised to identify the most promising business ideas developed during the training programmes. From this process, 16 green business ideas, four per country, were selected to take part in the international hackathon in Spello.

From training to real business ideas

All participants attending the hackathon had successfully completed a Green at You entrepreneurship pathway in areas such as community energy, nature-based solutions, sustainable farming and sustainable forestry management. During the event, they worked in an international and multidisciplinary environment, building on the skills and knowledge acquired during their training.

The hackathon combined workshops, mentoring sessions and pitching activities, allowing participants to further refine their ideas, strengthen their value propositions and assess their environmental, social and economic impact. Trainers, mentors and sector experts supported the teams throughout the process, fostering collaboration, creativity and problem-solving.

Pitching, evaluation and awards

A central moment of the hackathon was the pitching session, where each team presented its business idea to an international and independent jury. The projects were evaluated based on clear criteria, including social and environmental impact, innovation, market readiness, economic sustainability and communication skills.

At the end of the event, five business ideas were selected and awarded €4,000 each, providing concrete support for participants to begin implementing and testing their projects beyond the training context.

An international and inclusive learning experience

The Green at You Hackathon in Spello brought together participants with diverse backgrounds and experiences, creating a space for peer learning, intercultural exchange and European collaboration. The historic setting of Spello, combined with the inclusive and participatory atmosphere of the event, contributed to a memorable experience that went beyond traditional training formats.

As a key milestone within the Green at You project, the Spello hackathon demonstrated how structured training, local pre-incubation and international collaboration can empower people in vulnerable situations to turn sustainable ideas into concrete entrepreneurial initiatives, contributing to a greener and more inclusive future.
